UNIT 9


Controversial Issues
What did you learn?
      In this unit I learn new grammar, vocabulary and discuss about politics. Activities from this unit were a little easy to understand because the last semester I studied it. The first activity I learned was the Count-Nouns for abstract ideas and verbs followed by objects and infinitives. I learned that they don´t require any article. They don´t have plural form or proceeded by any article. Example, education is an important issue. (RIGHT) The education is an important issue. (WRONG). I learnt verbs followed by an infinitive.  Also, I learnt a new vocabulary about political social believes and some controversial issues. They are adjectives to describe political people. Countries have different from of government. I heard classmate´s opinion in which most of them share opinions in favor and pros.
How did you learn it?
      These activities I learnt were from teacher´s explanation, handouts, and classmate’s debate. I researched extra information. I learned about some controversial issues. I made a group of 3 students in which we discussed about compulsory military. We shared our opinions. It helped me to get more knowledge about politics.
How are you going to apply it?
      I´m going to apply these activities I learned to discuss about whatever controversial issues. It´s going to help me not confuse the grammar. Everything I learned I´m going to apply in the future.  As a result, it helps me to get more knowledge for my professional life.

UNIT 8


INVENTIONS AND TECHNOLOGY
What did you learn?
     In this unit I learnt inventions that were created in the past. This unit had four lessons included the four skills to develop my knowledge. The first, activity that I studied always was the grammar, vocabulary, writing and listening. The new grammar was past unreal conditional. I used the past unreal conditional to describe unreal conditions and results. I was careful with if clauses due to can´t go two clauses together. For example, if I had had a cell phone, I could have called for directions. Also, I studied Yes, No questions, Wh- questions with past unreal conditional. I learned unless has the same meaning if not, too. Example, I´ll help you unless I have a lot of work. This grammar is used to talk about unreal things from the past. Also, found a new vocabulary to describe electronic devices. I could know how to describe manufactured products. For example, this car´s high-tech steering system. As a conclusion, this unit was interesting due to I like to know about technology.
How did you learn it?
     These activities I learned from teacher´s explanation, classmates and the internet. I created a role play to develop everything that I learned. I helped me to know and practice the new vocabulary. Also, I could invent an Insta English Dictionary Ring to evaluate applying new vocabulary. I found a reading in which many people would like know what was the most important invent. Teacher´s handouts helped me to understand better due to it was a little difficult to practice this grammar. Also, I wrote a paragraph in which I had to include past unreal sentences in that. As a conclusion, this unit was difficult because in many cases it can be the second conditional.
How are you going to apply it?
     I´m going to apply everything I learned to talk about unreal things from the past.  Also, I able to describe inventions or electronic products. It´s going to help me not make the same mistakes in the next levels.  As a conclusion, it will help me to learn a foreign  language.

Unit 7

Books and Magazines
What did you learn?
      In this unit I studied four lessons which each lesson has important activities to develop my reading, writing listening and speaking skills. This unit had grammar explanation and vocabulary. Grammar was related how to use an Embedded Questions. This grammar is used to ask more politely. It helps to get more information or mystery that you want to know. For example, tell me why you decided to read it. I studied non clauses as direct objects. I used a noun clause as a direct object and the word that is often omitted. A noun clause always can be used with a verb of mental activity. For example, I didn´t know that you read Home Magazine. Also, I learned new vocabulary to describe books, magazines, novels among others. For example, the Bourner Identify is a cliffhanger book. These adjectives can be used to describe all kind of books and magazines. As a result, I learned new things from these lessons.
How did you learn it?
      Activities that I learned were from teacher´s explanation, handouts, classmates and internet. I learned grammar from teacher´s explanation in which she wrote a lot of examples on the board. Also, I learned new vocabulary when I created a role play with my partner. She suggests reading “El Perfumista” a page turner book. I had different ways to read a book. For example, if you don´t have time to read, you´ll collect clippings. As a result, everything that I learned was from the book and some researches.
How are you going to apply it?
     All activities that I learned such as Noun Clauses: Embedded, as direct objects, vocabulary, reading habits among others. I´m going to apply it, to start a conversation. I´m going to help don´t make the same mistakes when I write or ask something. I am able to be able to ask questions more politely because it reflects your education. Also, I am able to describe a book, magazines. As a result, it is going to help me to increase and get more knowledge due to I became to be a professional.

Unit 6

DISASTERS AND EMERGENCIES
What did you learn?
      In this unit I learned four lessons in which each unit has grammar, vocabulary, reading and writing. This unit was based in Indirect Speech or Reported Speech grammar. I used reported speech when I reported what someone said without exact words. In Indirect Speech an imperative becomes an infinitive. In Indirect Speech you can make changes in pronouns and time expressions to preserve the speaker’s original meaning, too. For example, she told me, “Call me tomorrow” (DIRECT SPEECH). She told me to call her for the next day (INDIRECT SPEECH). I studied the use of say and tell in Indirect Speech. I used tell when I mentioned the listener, and I used say when I didn´t mention the listener. I learned how I can make questions, too. I learned a new vocabulary in which I could create possible excuses and possible excuses and possible messages when I busy. Also, I learned about Natural Disasters. It can cause a lot of property damage. How can I be prepared for an Emergency? Also, I wrote a paragraph related Ambato Earthquake. For example, to make this paragraph I researched some information on the internet. As a result, I learned new activities that were a little difficult.
How did you learn it?
      Activities that I learned in this unit were from teacher´s explanation and handouts, classmates and the internet. For example, I did a paragraph related Tungurahua Volcano Eruption. It helped me to get more knowledge about it. Also, teacher gave us extra handouts in which I practiced more exercise related Indirect Speech grammar. I checked in the internet due to I was a little confuse.  I learned how to be prepared for an emergency? For this job I worked in group of 3 students in which I discussed about emergency supplies, good and reason. As a conclusion, everything that I learned from this unit was very interesting because I learned new vocabulary, grammar and earthquake origins.
How are you going to apply it?
     Everything that I learned such as: Indirect Speech grammar, adjectives for describing disasters among others. I´m going to apply it to report what someone said without exact words. This grammar is easy to use due to you don´t need to memorize everything that other said. I´m going to apply this vocabulary to describe Natural Disasters that every day are caused. Also, information researched I´m going to share with my classmates due to I got good information about it. As a conclusion, I´m going to apply everything that I learned in my future.
